  • A.N.Pudovik

Arkadiy Nikolaevich Pudovik was Doctor of chemical sciences, professor, corresponding member of Russian Academy of Science, Honored academician of Tatarstan Academy of Science., prize-winner of Lenin Prize (1978) and International Prize in the name of A.Ye.Arbuzov. He was decorated with orders of "Labor Red Standard", "October Revolution", "Friendship of Peoples", "For Services to Homeland" of 4th degree, and with medals. He was an Honored citizen of Kazan.

Main scientific works by A.N.Pudovick are dedicated to the chemistry of phosphor-organic compounds. In 1954 he discovered the reaction of obtaining ethers of phosphonic acids, which is a unique method of creating compounds with phosphor-carbon connection, and now bears his name. He obtained some new types of phosphor-organic monomers and polymers.

  • V.F.Toropova

Vera Fedorovna Toropova (1915) was an analytical chemist, Doctor of chemical sciences (1959), professor (1960), Chair of Analytical Chemistry Department at Kazan University (1958-1986), a disciple of professor A.M.Vassiljev.

She is known for systematically studying the complex-forming reactions in solutions by physical-chemical methods, and applying them to analytical chemistry. She created her own school of electro-analytical chemistry. The Department she headed successfully developed such new spheres of study as voltamperometry of metal chelates in nonaqueous and mixed solvents, combined methods of analysis applying both polarography and extraction by organic solvents.

  • L.G.Berg

Lev Germanovich Berg (1896-1974) Doctor of chemical sciences (1943), professor (1947), scientific worker of the Institute of Organic and Non-organic Chemistry of the USSR Academy of Science (Moscow), Sector Chief at the Chemistry institute of Kazan Branch of Academy of Sciences (1950-1962), Chair of Non-Organic Chemistry Department at Kazan University (1953-1959), a disciple of professor A.Ya.Bogorodskij and academician N.S.Kurnakov.

He greatly contributed to the development of thermal analysis method and its introduction into physical-chemical, geological, metallurgical and other research. He developed a complex method of differential-thermal analysis (DTA) with simultaneous registration of various properties: electroconductivity, gas emission, viscosity, weight change etc. He studied multi-component semi-conductor and salt systems, quantitative phase analysis, and the definition of reaction warmthes using DTA. He was the first President of International Society on Thermal Analysis (1965-1968).

  • A.A.Popel

Andrey Alexeevich Popel' (1919-1977), Doctor of chemical sciences (1969), professor (1970), Chair of Non-organic Chemistry Department at Kazan University (since 1965), a disciple of professor A.M.Vassiljev.

His main scientific interests included the usage of physical-chemical methods for analyzing alloys and electrolytes of electroplating baths, chemistry of coordinational compounds. He developed magnet-relaxation method for studying non-organic substances, based on measuring the time of nuclei relaxation in solutions. He also viewed the limits of method applicability, its analytical capacity, advantages and limitations as compared with other physical methods. He created his own school on NMR application in non-organic chemistry.
